Addis Ababa, 16 September 2022 (TDI): The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is funding the 17th Global Internet Governance Forum. The event will take place from 28th November to 2nd December 2022 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
In a tweet, the ECA called the African Youth Volunteers to apply and participate in the event.

This year’s forum theme is “A Resilient Internet for a Shared Sustainable and Common Future.” ECA is hosting the 17th annual IGF in a hybrid format.
About the Internet Governance Forum
The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) formed and launched the African Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Task Force in July 2022.
The main objective of the African IGF Task Force is to ensure that African youth are effectively, inclusively, and actively involved in the 17th Internet Governance Forum (IGF).
The meeting of Internet Governance Forum is a global multi-stakeholder platform. It facilitates the discussion of public policy issues on the Internet.
The forum’s program is guided by five themes drawn from the Global Digital Compact in the UN Secretary-General’s “Our Common Agenda” report.

The event will bring together innovators, big tech executives, young people, ministers, and parliamentarians to spur efforts to build an open, secure, and free digital future for all.
In addition, the participants of the event will benefit from the free exchange of ideas and informal relationship-building the IGF provides. It is a unique platform for candid and open discussion on the future governance of the Internet.
ECA is hosting the 17th IGF on a unique digital platform. The meeting discussions will take place in an equal manner for all participants.
The 17th IGF interactive program will also be accessible through a dedicated mobile application. Moreover, the overall objective of the forum is to make participation in IGF 2022 meaningful and inclusive for all participants.
