EAC SG Held Talks With UN Under-Secretary General

New York, 29 September 2021 (TDI): Peter Mutuku Mathuki, the East African Community Secretary-General, met with Rosemary A. DiCarlo, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peace Building Affairs, to discuss strengthening peace and security activities between EAC and UNO.

During the meeting, the Secretary-General of EAC put forth the need to strengthen the voice of the East African Community in the United Nations Organizations. Along with it, the Secretary-General of EAC suggested equitable distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine and discussed economic recovery after and during the pandemic.

Lastly, the attendees of the meeting discussed in detail the UN support mission for the prevalence of peace in the East African region and steps needed to combat any sort of threat to the social, economic, and political security of the people of East African people.
