Doha, 17 August 2021 (TDI): In Doha, the Taliban leaders are holding talks with the International Community and the political parties of Afghanistan for decisions regarding the structure and administration of the future government of Afghanistan.
The Taliban took hold of Kabul city last week. The country is currently facing chaos and disarray due to the sudden collapse of the fugitive Ashraf Ghani’s government. The international community, stakeholders, and Taliban leaders have stressed the importance of peaceful discussions. Currently, discussions are being held in Qatar’s capital Doha concerning the formulation of a framework for the Taliban government in Afghanistan.
Earlier, all parties tentatively agreed on two weeks ceasefire for setting up the transitional government in Doha talks, but Ashraf Ghani’s escape has jeopardized the deal. In effect, talks in Doha now consist of discussions about the structure and name of the future Afghan Government.
