E. Xi Jinping had telephonic contact with his Turkish counterpart, Tayyip Erdogan, on Tuesday. Both leaders discussed matters and areas of increasing bilateral cooperation between Turkey and China.

President Xi hailed the idea of cooperation between the two nations and mentioned that bilateral cooperation was increased between the two during the pandemic. Xi also reaffirmed China’s support for Turkey’s national sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and development policy.

 ‘To achieve greater economic and trade relations China and Turkey should collaborate on Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Turkey’s Middle Corridor plan as this will result in better outcomes and will also enhance the bilateral cooperation, said Xi Jinping.

From Turkey’s side, the Turkish president also vowed the idea of increasing cooperation with China and expressed his desire to expand collaboration with China on COVID-19 vaccines during the phone call. Erdogan also congratulated Xi on the 100th anniversary of CPC. In response to Xi, Erdogan also reaffirmed the idea of Turkey’s support to China in preserving its national sovereignty and in its fight against terrorism.

He also mentioned that any separatist group or movement generated on the soil of Turkey, aimed at harming China will be opposed by the Turkish government.
