Developing countries eligible for fully funded scholarships in Indonesia

Jakarta, 7 January 2023 (TDI): The Government of the Republic of Indonesia announces the availability of fully funded Scholarships for developing countries through the Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB).

These scholarships are available for undergraduate, master,s & Ph.D. studies. It is available in almost every field of study ranging from biological to social sciences.

Overview of Program

The Beasiswa Kemitraan Negara Berkembang Scholarship, also known as the KNB Scholarship, is a prestigious scholarship program by the Republic of Indonesia to select applicants from developing countries.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology manages the scholarship. It is awarded to 1,608 recipients from 97 countries since 2006.

The role of the KNB Scholarship has been critical in assisting Indonesian higher education institutions in their internationalization efforts. The number of international students reflects a higher education institution’s global visibility.

The number of scholarships awarded each year has increased to support the internationalization of Indonesian universities.

Objectives of scholarship

The purpose of the KNB Scholarship is to contribute to human resource development in developing countries. Secondly, to promote deeper cultural understanding and to strengthen the relationship between developing countries.

Finally, to improve Indonesian higher education institutions’ research capacity as a part of the national strategies in increasing the number of world-class universities in Indonesia.

Scholarship coverage

The covers all of the expenses of international students. In this regard, new students will receive a Settlement Allowance of Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) 1,250,000 upon arrival in Indonesia.

For Masters students, the KNB students will receive a scheme of monthly allowance as follows; IDR 2,550,000 as living allowance, IDR 400,000 as research allowance & IDR 350,000 as book allowance.

Additionally, health insurance with a maximum of IDR 200,000 monthly & round-trip international airfare will be provided.

Required documents

The international students are required to submit a recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy in the respective country & a nomination letter from the respective government official.

Students should submit two academic recommendation letters, passport or birth certificate copies, bachelor’s certificate along with transcripts, a language proficiency score, and an official medical examination report.

It is pertinent to note that the whole application procedure is online & the last date to apply for the Kemitraan Negara Berkembang scholarship is 18th February 2023.
