Looking into the recent developments, the UN Women based in Pakistan also conducted a training workshop based on women’s protection against harassment under Ombudsperson KP for Protection Against Harassment.
Notably, the aim of both Ombudsperson Offices and UN Women is for working towards the effective implementation of legislation.
That is, by strengthening existing mechanisms, raising awareness, and producing knowledge products. Together with enhancing the capacity of Ombudsperson Offices so that incidents of workplace harassment can be removed.
Therefore, a great deal of work has been accomplished through these partnerships in addressing the situation.
Thus, for the first time, a comprehensive database was developed. That is, with a focus on information concerning notified inquiry committees. Alongside relevant cases reported to assess the trends of sexual harassment at workplaces.
Furthermore, 236 inquiry committees have been notified within different government departments across the KP province under “The Protection against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2010”.
Both UN Women and the Office of the Ombudsperson KP developed jointly a Toolkit on “Understanding Sexual Harassment, Legal Provisions, Roles of Duty Bearers and Right Holders”.
Most importantly, the Toolkit gives a comprehensive resource to train and build the capacity of inquiry committee members. Together with other stakeholders on the law and redressal mechanisms for dispensation of justice to the complainants.
Regarding the implementation of the Workplace Harassment Law, it ensures that the environment is safe for women. Particularly to reach their full potential as well as contribute to the economy.
