Banjul, 7 May 2024(TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar interacted with the Pakistani community based in Gambia during his visit to the country for the 15th OIC Summit.
Deputy prime minister and foreign minister apprised the Pakistani community about the activities of the Pakistan delegation led by him at the 15th OIC Summit, according to a press release on Monday.
During the interaction, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the pivotal role of the Pakistani community in fostering bilateral relations. Moreover, highlighted ways to promote cultural exchanges between Pakistan and Gambia.
He acknowledged the contributions of the Pakistani diaspora to the socio-economic fabric of Gambia, particularly in areas such as trade, education, and healthcare.
The Deputy Prime Minister listened to the concerns and hopes of the Pakistani community in Gambia on behalf of the Prime Minister.
Additionally, Pakistani expatriates in the country discussed issues related to consular services.
Furthermore, community welfare, and integration, and challenges faced by the community were also discussed.
In his address, the Deputy Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s determination to support its citizens abroad and ensure their welfare.
He highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by the government to facilitate the Pakistani diaspora and strengthen their ties with their homeland.
Members of the Pakistani society, including representatives from business, academia, and other fields, attended the event.

The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed and emphasized the meeting, reflecting the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and Gambia.
People from all walks of life in Pakistan thanked the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs for allowing them to interact. The deputy prime minister considered and addressed various concerns that were raised.
