Copenhagen, 2 May 2023 (TDI): Denmark has sent the largest military donation package to date for Ukraine. The package was sent by approval of a broad majority in the Danish Parliament. The package is worth DKK 1.7 billion.

The support package consists of vehicles, materials, air defense, and ammunition. It is aimed to enhance Ukraine’s military capabilities to carry out an offensive in future against Russian aggression.

The Foreign Minister of Denmark Lars Rasmussen said, “New Danish military support package to Ukraine is on its way. Our biggest so far: 25 million EUR. Ukraine is fighting for the freedom and security of Europe, and the need for military support remains imminent.”

The package contains financial aid as well as air defense procurement including mine clearance vehicles, mine clearance hoses, ammunition, and field bridges.

Amidst Russia’s war against Ukraine, Denmark has continued to provide support to Ukraine. Therefore, with broad support from the Danish Parliament, a military donation package is on its way to Ukraine.

The package is the largest donation from Denmark to support the impending Ukraine offensive.  The donation is subject to grant authorization from the Finance Committee.

Acting Defense Minister of Denmark, Troels Lund Poulsen said, “We know that the Russians have entrenched themselves in the occupied areas of Ukraine with trenches, minefields, and other obstacles that are supposed to stop a Ukrainian offensive.”

He further stated that the material in the donation package is imperative to pave the way for Ukrainian tanks and the armored infantry on the front line.

Equipment for an upcoming offensive

The package contains armored vehicles built to resist mines, and equipment that can assist in demining. Demining hoses are also included in the support package, which can be used to break through minefields.

Special vehicles are also donated for the recovery of tanks and breaking through obstacles.

Denmark Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said that Denmark is providing the best equipment to Ukraine for a successful and well-built Ukrainian defense system.

The package also contains non-lethal support such as fuel, bridging equipment, first aid equipment, and field rations in the framework of NATO.

“I am very happy that a broad majority in the Danish Parliament stands together to help the Ukrainians in their struggle for freedom. It is a large donation package that we are sending out. The contents of the donation package are materiel specifically requested by Ukraine. I am proud that we in Denmark can meet that wish,” says Acting Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

Since the beginning of Russia and Ukraine’s war, Denmark has donated weapons and equipment to Ukraine worth 9.5 billion Kroner. Denmark has termed these donations as a contribution to Ukraine’s freedom struggle.
