New York (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar met with his Thai counterpart, Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa, on Wednesday as part of a series of high-level engagements marking Pakistan’s presidency of the UN Security Council.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of UN events in New York, focused on expanding cooperation between the two countries across a range of sectors.
Both leaders welcomed the growing warmth in bilateral relations, particularly in areas like cultural exchange, tourism, trade, and parliamentary diplomacy.
The two sides agreed to deepen collaboration in food security, fisheries, defense, and regional connectivity, areas seen as key to strengthening ties in the coming years.

The ministers also shared perspectives on global and regional developments, reaffirming the importance of continued dialogue on issues of shared concern.
Both sides expressed interest in working more closely at multilateral platforms, especially within the United Nations system.
Foreign Minister Maris congratulated Pakistan on assuming the presidency of the Security Council and acknowledged the country’s active role in advancing the Council’s agenda.
They took time to talk through what’s happening in their respective regions and touched on broader international developments.

There was a clear understanding that staying engaged, especially during uncertain times, is more important than ever.
Before wrapping up, the Thai foreign minister again congratulated Pakistan on chairing the UN Security Council.
He said Pakistan had played a constructive part in recent Council matters and welcomed its efforts to keep discussions moving forward.
