New York (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his counterparts from Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Egypt have expressed support for diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a peaceful resolution to the latest regional tensions.
Dar attended a ministerial meeting of the Regional-4 (R-4) grouping on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, where the four ministers reviewed recent developments in the region, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said on Tuesday.
The ministers exchanged assessments of the evolving situation and voiced “full support” for initiatives seeking a peaceful resolution. Dar also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the R-4 framework and stressed the importance of continued engagement to promote regional peace and prosperity.
The four countries also reiterated their support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their “inalienable right to self-determination.”
They backed the establishment of an independent, sovereign, viable and contiguous State of Palestine along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Egypt have used the R-4 mechanism as a platform for consultations on major regional and international issues, with Dar emphasizing Islamabad’s continued engagement through the grouping.
Earlier, Dar addressed the OIC Committee of Six on Palestine during the UNGA meetings and called for stronger coordination among Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states at the United Nations and other international forums.
He urged OIC countries to intensify diplomatic efforts to protect Palestinian civilians and uphold international law, while expressing concern over continued violations of the Gaza ceasefire. “The Palestine cause remains central to the OIC and the collective conscience of the Muslim Ummah,” Dar said.

He said the Committee of Six had an important responsibility to mobilize sustained political and diplomatic support for the Palestinian people and ensure that the international community remained focused on their rights and humanitarian needs.
Dar also called for continued collective diplomatic engagement, stressing that the Palestinian issue should remain a priority on international forums amid the broader regional crisis.
