Islamabad (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Sunday held separate telephonic conversations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Malaysian counterpart Dato Seri Mohamad Hasan to brief them on the latest regional developments.
During his call with Lavrov, Dar rejected India’s baseless accusations and provocative rhetoric against Pakistan, and condemned New Delhi’s unilateral and illegal move to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance which is a violation of its international obligations.
Reiterating Islamabad’s commitment to regional peace, the Foreign Minister stressed that Pakistan would resolutely defend its sovereignty and national interests.
He also conveyed Pakistan’s offer for an international, neutral and transparent probe to the Pahalgam attack in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on April 22.
For his part, Lavrov expressed concern over the situation and emphasized the significance of diplomacy to resolve issues.

He stressed that both sides should exercise restraint and avoid escalation.
The two leaders also discussed the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Russia ties and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration across all sectors.

During the conversation with the Malaysian Foreign Minister, Dar categorically rejected India’s provocative actions, including its unfounded allegations, provocative propaganda, and unilateral decision to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, an outright violation of the agreement’s provisions and international legal obligations.
He highlighted Islamabad’s commitment to regional peace and security, while reserving the right to protect its sovereignty and national interest.
Foreign Minister Dato Seri Mohamad Hasan supported Pakistan’s position and called for restraint by all parties.
Both leaders agreed to maintain close contact on the evolving situation.
