This was the second interaction between the two in recent days. Araghchi had earlier spoken with Dar on Saturday while the Pakistani foreign minister was on an official visit to Dubai.

During that call, the Iranian foreign minister thanked Pakistan for what he described as its strong support at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.

He specifically acknowledged Pakistan’s role in calling for a vote and opposing a resolution related to Iran.

Last week, the UN Human Rights Council approved a resolution extending the mandate of the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Iran for another two years. Pakistan was among seven countries, including China and India, that voted against the measure.

The Foreign Office added that the two ministers also exchanged views on broader regional and global issues, with Araghchi conveying his deep appreciation for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Pakistani government and the people of Pakistan.
