Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan has condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia as “totally unacceptable,” reaffirming its solidarity with the Kingdom and its commitment to protecting Saudi sovereignty, territorial integrity and security under the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar made the remarks on Wednesday during a joint press conference with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi in Islamabad, following the eighth session of the Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC).
Dar said the two ministers had discussed recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and the implications of escalating regional tensions for peace and security.
“I underscored that attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure are totally unacceptable,” Dar said, adding that Albusaidi fully endorsed the position. He warned that violations of international law posed a serious threat to regional stability. Dar also reiterated Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia’s security.
“I reaffirmed Pakistan’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and our unwavering commitment to the Kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security in accordance with the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement,” he said.

The remarks came amid heightened tensions in the region following repeated Houthi attacks on Saudi targets and a renewed military campaign by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.
During the meeting, both ministers stressed that dialogue and diplomacy remained essential to resolving regional conflicts and preventing further escalation. Dar said Pakistan and Oman shared the view that diplomatic engagement was the way forward. Responding to a question, he said the two countries were “on the same page” regarding the need for peaceful solutions to regional disputes.
Albusaidi praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to facilitate engagement between the United States and Iran, saying Oman appreciated Islamabad’s role in providing space for dialogue. The Omani foreign minister also reaffirmed Muscat’s commitment to promoting regional peace and stability through diplomatic channels.
During their discussions, the ministers reviewed developments involving the US-Iran conflict, the Strait of Hormuz, Bab al-Mandab, Gaza and Jammu and Kashmir. They also exchanged views on the broader consequences of regional instability.

Addressing maritime security, Albusaidi stressed the importance of maintaining uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, describing the waterway as vital to the regional and global economy.
Dar said regional tensions had already affected Pakistan, particularly through disruptions to energy supply chains and rising fuel prices, which had increased pressure on ordinary citizens.
The two ministers also called for unhindered humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, underscoring the continuing need for international efforts to address the humanitarian situation.
