Islamabad (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has directed Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to the Netherlands Syed Haider Shah to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations, especially in the economic domain.
The Ambassador-designate to the Netherlands paid a farewell call on the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister on Tuesday.
While wishing him success in his new assignment, Dar also advised the Ambassador-designate to facilitate the provision of consular services and other assistance to Pakistani residents in the Netherlands.
Pakistan and the Netherlands have strong bilateral relations, focusing on trade, investments, and cooperation in the fields of agriculture, water management, and renewable energy.
The Netherlands being one of the most important trading partners of Pakistan in the EU, has played major role in strengthening economic relations between Pakistan and the European Union through programs like GSP+ trade benefits.

Capacity-building programs in areas including dairy farming, horticulture, and sustainable water solutions have also been the subject of cooperation between both countries.
Recent years have seen heightened diplomatic engagement between the two countries, involving high-level visits and discussions on matters of mutual interest, such as counter-terrorism, climate resilience, and human rights.
Flood assistance has also been provided by the Netherlands, with ongoing support for knowledge and skill-sharing initiatives aimed at the technological and industrial advancement in Pakistan.
