CPEC and BRI to Benefit Pak China Equally

Beijing (TDI): CPEC and BRI will benefit Pakistan and China equally and is becoming backbone of future infrastructure projects in the region for trade and other connectivity.

Abdul Aleem Khan, the Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications, stated this while addressing at the Beijing Summit where 12 countries participated in the event titled “Integrating Ports and Highways For The Future .”

Abdul Aleem Khan, the Federal Minister for Communications, made the following observation during the opening session of the Global Sustainable Transport Forum 2024 in Beijing, China:

“Trade corridors of CPEC, with the support of China, are the guarantor of our strong infrastructure and better transport system, and CPEC and Belt Road Initiative (BRI) projects will benefit both Pakistan and China, equally.”

He added, “Green energy and clean technology are the keys to our safe future. We must integrate our ports and highways with future requirements in mind.”

Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan made it clear in his speech during the two-day Beijing Summit that while the national development agenda, employment opportunities, and transportation improvements are the driving forces behind economic growth, communication system development also benefits culture and society.

He declared that Pakistan supports bilateral collaboration with China in order to advance green technology and public-private partnerships.

The Federal Minister, Abdul Aleem Khan, noted in his speech that the 2019 corona outbreak had brought about a number of developments, including a new dimension and integration of advances in the transport industry through digital techniques and e-commerce.

Undoubtedly, he stated, Pakistan is confronted with significant issues related to the increasing urban population and environmental deterioration, and we must augment our resources to meet these concerns.

According to him, improving the transportation system also needs to take into account the safety of those using it.

In particular, Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan expressed gratitude to China’s Transport Minister Li Xiaopeng for organizing Beijing summit, which will give the participating nations’ delegates a chance to learn from one another’s experiences and work together in the future.

Notably, in addition to China and Pakistan, the ministers of Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Greece, Kuwait, Qatar, Kenya, Singapore, Tajikistan, Tanzania, and Uzbekistan also participated and shared their opinions during the Global Forum’s opening session virtually.

Meanwhile, President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari also gave a virtual address. Attending and addressing the Forum were the deputy prime ministers of Thailand and Nepal.

The China Minister of Transportation, Li Xiaopeng, is hosting this two-day Beijing summit. In his speech, he thanked Pakistan in particular and pledged to continue advancing bilateral relations and mutual collaboration in all spheres of endeavor.

In the meantime, Pakistan is about to enter the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

It also needs rapid work on the five “Es” of economic zones—export, energy, equity, and environment—has also been started, according to Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, who was speaking at the Global Governance Session in Beijing.

While a new framework will need to be followed for the improvement of highways and ports, he stated that Pakistan and China will conduct business-to-business and joint ventures for attractive investment.

Gwadar Port, according to Abdul Aleem Khan, will mark a significant development for Pakistan and the Central Asian nations.

According to him, there is a lot of room for growth in the communication sector since improved road infrastructure can make the goal of more industrial development a reality.

The 800 km long cross-border optical fiber cable strengthened digital connectivity, according to Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan’s speech.

The Orange Line and Metro were the first mass transit projects supported by China, and Pink Bus Service made public transportation more comfortable and convenient for women.

Another feather in the CPEC project’s cap for Pakistan-China friendship was the approval of the Karakoram Highway and the Sukkur Multan Motorway.

Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan expressed hope that the long-standing relationship and close friendship between China and Pakistan will be further solidified in the future while thanking the Chinese authorities for hosting the Beijing summit.
