Islamabad, 11 May 2023 (TDI): In a bid to foster cooperation and collaboration in science, technology, and innovation, the OIC Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) and Ibadat International University (IIUI) in Islamabad have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The signing ceremony took place at the COMSTECH Secretariat, where the Coordinator-General COMSTECH, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, and the Rector of Prof. Dr. Syed Amir Gilani of IIUI, put their signatures on the document.

The agreement outlines the commitment of both institutions to create a platform for joint educational and scientific programs, as well as national and international events such as workshops, conferences, symposia, seminars, exhibitions, and training courses in areas of mutual interest.

As part of the agreement, Ibadat International University will become an associate member of the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence (CCoE) and register at the OIC Technology and Innovation Portal.

The MoU provides Ibadat International University with an opportunity to benefit from the COMSTECH Distinguished Scholars Programme, which will facilitate visits by distinguished scholars to deliver lectures, short courses, and workshops, as well as the placement of students, academic, and scientific personnel.

Additionally, COMSTECH will help Ibadat University develop faculty through sabbatical visits, training, and consultation for the establishment of a Science Park.

Furthermore, COMSTECH will develop a program in partnership with IIUI to enable young researchers and students from OIC member countries, especially from Africa, to conduct research at Ibadat International University for 6-12 months.

This initiative aims to promote knowledge exchange and build capacity among the youth in the region. The MoU is expected to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions and contribute to the advancement of science and technology in the OIC member countries.
