CJP Discuss Judicial Exchanges With Turkish, Iranian Envoys

Islamabad (TDI): In two separate meetings, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, met the ambassadors of Turkey and Iran. He discussed judicial collaboration with both envoys.

Turkey’s Ambassador to Pakistan, İrfan Neziroğlu, and Iran’s Ambassador, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam, separately visited the CJP in the Supreme Court building on Monday.

Justice Yahya discussed cooperation between the judiciaries of Pakistan and Turkey, and reaffirmed the brotherly ties both countries enjoy.

He appreciated the Turkish judicial exchange programs with the Shariah Academy of Pakistan and talked about extending such programs to district courts as well, where Pakistan’s judicial officials can benefit from Turkey’s expertise in court management.

Ambassador İrfan extended the message of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Turkey for the Chief Justice.

In meeting with Iran’s Ambassador, Justice Yahaya Afridi heartfully welcomed the cooperation and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Iran.

Ambassador Moghadam conveyed the felicitations of the Chief Justice of Iran to Justice Yahya, on becoming the Chief Justice of the country. He also invited the CJP to visit Iran soon.

CJP presented both the guests with souvenirs while they retuned the gesture with their own respective momentos.

Justice Yahya called these interactions very productive as they enable learning about each other’s judicial systems and open possibilities for exchange and collaboration.

As Muslim countries, Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey share common laws and judicial wisdom, derived from Islam. Though each country has its own set of distinct civil, political, and criminal laws but cooperation is certainly possible and desirable.
