Beijing, 16 November 2021 (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping had a virtual meeting with the President of the United States Joe Biden. The two sides agreed on strengthening bilateral relations.
Chinese President emphasized that China and the U.S. are in the critical stages of the development in which the world is facing unprecedented challenges. He stressed that being the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council; and the largest economies of the world, the two states should enhance dialogue and cooperation.

He emphasized that the two countries need to cooperate in order to deal with global challenges. Xi pointed out that the peace and development in the world are mutual interests of the two states. Therefore, they should jointly work for this noble cause of the world.
Chinese President stated that the stable relationship between China and the U.S. is not only in the interests of the two states but also of the world. Therefore, the two states should work on the channels of sum-sum cooperation. It is the safest way to peaceful co-existence, he added.
China ready to strengthen bilateral relations with the US
Xi also expressed his will to work with the U.S. President to strengthen the bilateral relations. He said that the two countries should jointly work on the global challenges of Climate Change and the Coronavirus pandemic. It will not only help to strengthen bilateral relations but will also help to meet the expectations of the international community.
Chinese President highlighted that the Chinese opening up and its establishment of diplomatic relations is an important event of the history of international relations in the last 50 years. He also pointed that the important event of the coming 50 years will be how China and the U.S. work together. History will remember whatever the statesmen of these states do. Therefore, he hopes that President Biden will bring the American policy toward China on the right track.
Xi suggests 3 principles for strengthening bilateral relations
Xi pointed out three important principles to be followed for strengthening the relations between the states. He urged that the two states should follow the principle of mutual respect. The two countries should respect each other’s social systems, interests, and concerns. They should also respect the right of development mutually, he added. The two states should treat each other equally to enhance cooperation.
The second principle he stressed was a peaceful existence. He said that the two states should follow the policy of non-interference in the affairs of each other. They should not provoke any conflict or confrontation which can disturb the peaceful existence.
The third and last principle he talked about was win-win cooperation. He said that the two states have a huge capacity to gain strengthening their cooperation. Interdependence can give them fruitful benefits. The mutual benefit will be in the interests of both states instead of zero-sum results. Therefore, the two states should cooperate instead of confronting each other.
Chinese President urges Sino-US cooperation
Xi identified key areas for strengthening Sino-US cooperation. He stressed the cooperation between the two states in dealing with global challenges. He debated that China and U.S. might not solve all the global problems but they have the capacity to solve some of them by their cooperation. Therefore, the two countries should enhance dialogue on the issues of the Coronavirus pandemic, climate change; and peace and security of the world. He said that the two countries should expand cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, mil-to-mil, law-enforcement, education, science and technology, cyber, and environmental protection. He also urged the two states to enhance cooperation in regional as well as in international affairs.
China-US cooperation may not solve all problems, but few problems can be solved without China-US cooperation. The global initiatives #China has proposed are all open to the #US. We hope the reverse is also true.

Xi stated that Climate change has been alarming the world from its disastrous effects. Therefore, China and the U.S. being the leading states of the world need to cooperate instead of blaming each other. He said that China believes in actions because actions speak louder than words. Thus, the world needs to take action on climate change as early as possible according to their responsibilities.
Xi underlines One-China policy
Chinese President also emphasizes the One-China policy. He stated that China will never change its position on the Taiwan Strait. He said that some groups from Taiwan are looking for U.S. help for the independence of Taiwan while some Americans are thinking to contain China by using the Taiwan issue. Chinese President compared the Taiwan issue with fire and said that whoever plays with fire will get burnt. He pointed out that all the previous U.S. administrations have been committed to the One-China policy therefore the current administration should also follow its predecessors. He said that China’s complete reunification is the goal of China and it will strive for peaceful reunification for the peace and stability of the region.
US President expresses his will to cooperate with China
On his part, U.S. President Joe Biden stated that Sino-US relations are the most important bilateral relations in the world. He stressed that being one of the leading states of the world, the two states have a huge responsibility in world affairs. He said that the countries need to open up to each other to avoid conflicts. Biden said that the U.S. has no intention to have a conflict with China. Therefore, its alliances are not anti-China.
Biden reaffirms US support for One-China
The U.S. President also pointed out that the United States does not want to change the social system of China. He stated that the U.S. is committed to the One-China policy. He said that the United States does not support Taiwan’s independence but supports peace and stability in the region.
Joe Biden stressed strengthening Sino-US cooperation on Climate change and the pandemic. He said that the U.S. is reading to work with China on the basis of equality to reduce misperceptions between the two states.
The two counterparts also changed views on different regional and international issues. They discussed the recent developments in Afghanistan, Korean Peninsula, and the Iranian Nuclear Talks.
China and the U.S. are the leading states of the world. This meeting between the two counterparts was much needed for the peace and prosperity of the world. The world does not want a new cold war but peaceful existence. Therefore the two countries should work on reducing their differences and enhancing cooperation.
