The effective engagement shows the importance of ASEAN in China’s neighbouring diplomacy. The significance of Premier Li’s visit is that it will give the two sides another chance to discuss development goals and work together to address problems and uncertainties, demonstrating the strength and wisdom of Asia, according to observers.
China has three main goals for this summit, including: concentrating on the shared growth of the region and cooperating to discuss pressing issues like energy and food; advancing East Asian economic integration; implementing the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) cooperatively and effectively; accelerating the negotiation of the 3.0 China-ASEAN Free Trade Area; and bringing stability to the region while preserving regional peace and stability.
Ge Hongliang, head of the China-ASEAN Maritime Security Research Center at Guangxi University for Nationalities, informed that China and ASEAN have a rich history of strong and regular increased exchanges.

When President Xi Jinping travelled to Indonesia in 2013, the notion of a new Maritime Silk Road was floated, based on which the BRI developed.
Ge used it as an illustration of how high-level conversations set the stage and determine the direction of a healthy interaction between China and ASEAN.
According to Ge, regional peace and development, which are China and ASEAN’s shared values, remain constant, and the countries can cooperate together to overcome resistance and maintain their mature foundation for cooperation as their ties grow slowly and further.
