Chinese Foreign Minister speaks with Hungarian Foreign Minister

Beijing, 26 November 2021 (TDI): Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a virtual meeting with the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto.

Chinese Foreign Minister emphasized bilateral relations of the two states. He stated that the two countries are comprehensive strategic partners. The two countries have deepened their mutual trust by enhancing their cooperation.

He appreciated the Hungarian government’s efforts in dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic. He stated that the Hungarian government has taken significant measures to restore its economic growth. Chinese Foreign Minister acknowledged the efforts made by the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. He said that China hopes that Hungary will achieve more success under the leadership of Viktor Orban.

Wang Yi underlined the key fruitful achievements under the China-Hungary cooperation. He said that Hungary has shown keen interest in the Chinese project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). He said that China will work with Hungary under the framework of the BRI. It will help to strengthen the bilateral relations, he added. He pointed out that China supports its companies working in Hungary and it hopes that Hungary will provide a comfortable environment for investment to the Chinese companies.

China-Hungary relations a win-win cooperation

Wang Yi underlined the bilateral relations of the two states as a win-win cooperation. The two countries have always shown trust in each other and have cooperated in hard times, he added. He stated that the China-Hungary cooperation is one of the best examples of cooperation between countries with different systems.

The Chinese Foreign Minister acknowledged the role of the Hungarian government in promoting multilateralism in the world. He said that China is committed to working with Hungary to promote peace and prosperity in the world by upholding multilateralism.

Hungarian Foreign and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto highlighted that China and Hungary are traditional friends. He stated that the Hungarian public supports its cooperation with China. Therefore, no external force can affect their cooperation.

He stressed that Hungary is committed to the One-China policy. Hungary respects the national sovereignty and integrity of China. Therefore it will always uphold the Chinese stance of the One-China policy over Taiwan.

He emphasized that Hungary welcomes Chinese investors to invest in its country. He lighted the role of the Chinese role in the pandemic by providing the vaccines to counter the Coronavirus pandemic. Chinese vaccines have played an important role in Hungary’s fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, he added. He stated that vaccines should not be used for politicization. He said that Hungary is ready to share its experience of using the Chinese vaccines with the world.

In the meeting, they also discussed China-Europe relations. Chinese Foreign Minister said that China and Europe share a common interest in promoting multilateralism in the world. The two sides want a multipolar world and to strengthen democracy in the world.
