Nur-Sultan, 10 June 2022 (TDI): Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister, Wang Yi and Tajik transport Minister Azim Ibrohim agreed to start cooperation in a wide range of areas.
The two ministers met after attending the third China + Central Asia (C+C5) Foreign Ministers’ meeting.
Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi said that Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Emomali Rahmon, the China-Tajikistan comprehensive strategic cooperation has consistently maintained a healthy and stable development momentum.
The two countries have taken the lead in establishing a development and security community. They have also taken lead in a huge number of key cooperation projects that have achieved positive results and increased people’s well-being.
In international and regional affairs, the two sides have always trusted and supported each other, continuously injecting new connotations into bilateral relations.
China is willing to cooperate with Tajikistan and to use the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to carry out the major agreement reached by the two heads of state, in order to drive bilateral cooperation in many fields to new heights and deliver greater advantages to the people.
Increase in trade volume
According to Wang Yi, bilateral trade volume increased by more than 100% year on year in the first quarter of this year, demonstrating remarkable resilience.
China is willing to explore new areas of collaboration with Tajikistan on a regular basis and assist the country in achieving the objectives of its four primary development strategies: energy, transportation, food, and industrialization.
China encourages and supports Chinese companies to invest in Tajikistan and do business there to better synergize industrial capacity. Tajikistan’s business environment, China expects, would improve.
Tajikistan has a great neighbor in China, according to Ibrohim. The two heads of state have developed a high level of mutual trust, and the Tajikistan-China comprehensive strategic cooperation has been gradually progressing.
30 years of bilateral ties
Bilateral cooperation has grown significantly in the 30 years since diplomatic ties were established.
China has become Tajikistan’s most important commercial and investment partner. Tajikistan is grateful to China for its aid in implementing significant projects, upgrading infrastructure, and combating the epidemic.
Tajikistan is eager to take part in the Belt and Road Initiative and expand its overall cooperation with China. Tajikistan will facilitate the Chinese companies to invest in the country.
Both sides were pleased with the opening of the Luban Workshop in Tajikistan, which was the first of its sort in Central Asia. The two parties will cooperate to complete the workshop as soon as possible in order to provide early advantages and promote professional training in Tajikistan. Both parties agreed to expedite the development of a traditional medicine center in Tajikistan and to maintain anti-pandemic cooperation.
The two countries will work together to expand trade and develop new areas of collaboration, such as new energy, green technology, transportation, and communications.
