Dushanbe: 15 July 2021 (TDI):On Wednesday, the State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi met with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Dushanbe. During the meeting, the Chinese minister commented on the bus explosion in Pakistan that killed nine Chinese nationals and three Pakistanis
Since the incident, suppositions are emerging that the explosion could possibly be a planned terrorist attack. In this context, Yi commented that if it is a terrorist attack, then the perpetrators must be severely punished. He said that China was shocked by the serious casualties and hopes that Pakistan can quickly identify the cause of the incident, make the best efforts to treat the wounded, and deal with the aftermath in a timely manner to prevent similar incidents from happening again. He highlighted that the security measures for China-Pakistan cooperation projects should be further strengthened to ensure the safety and smooth operation of all projects.
The Pakistani Foreign Minister said that so far the prefatory investigations have revealed no discovery of a terrorist attack. He also expressed sincere condolences to China on the casualties of Chinese personnel on behalf of the Pakistani government and people. He also assured that Pakistan will provide the best treatment for the wounded, thoroughly investigate the incident, and share the progress of the investigation with China as soon as possible. The country will do its best to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel in Pakistan.
