Dushanbe (TDI): The Chinese Embassy in Tajikistan strongly condemned an armed attack on Wednesday evening near the Afghan border in Shamsiddin-Shohin, Khatlon region, which left three Chinese nationals dead and one injured.
The embassy described the incident as a “grave criminal act” and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, according to a statement on its official WeChat account.
Immediately after the attack, the embassy activated its emergency response mechanism and sent a working team to the scene. The team assisted the injured, visited the victims’ families, and supported Chinese company personnel in the area.
The embassy has called on Tajik authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, hold the perpetrators accountable, and implement effective measures to protect Chinese citizens, institutions, and projects in Tajikistan.

It has also issued an urgent security alert, advising Chinese nationals to closely monitor the situation, avoid traveling near the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border, and leave the area if possible. In case of emergencies, citizens are urged to contact local police and the embassy for assistance.
According to Tajik authorities, the attack was carried out using a drone carrying explosives, targeting a workers’ camp in the southwestern Khatlon region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the strike, calling it an act of terrorism, and urged Afghan authorities to secure their side of the border.

The affected camp belonged to LLC Shohin SM and was located near the 1st Border Guard Post “Istiqlol” in the Yol Border Detachment. The Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan also issued warnings to Chinese companies and personnel involved in gold mining operations in the region, advising them to evacuate and maintain close contact with local authorities and the embassy for support.
