Beijing, 25 July 2022 (TDI): The Embassy of Colombia in Beijing coordinated the First Virtual Meeting between the Department of Antioquia and Fuzhou city representatives.

Agenda of the Meeting
The celebration of this first meeting consolidates the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. It also coincides with the anniversary of 42 years of diplomatic relations between Colombia and China.
This virtual meeting is undoubtedly a decisive step in this direction to consolidate the twinning projects. It seeks to strengthen the exchange and cooperation in infrastructure, trade, tourism, education, culture, sports, and technology.
The Embassy of Colombia took to its Twitter and ensured to explore more opportunities for cooperation and strengthen friendship.

Embassy representatives highlighted the importance of articulating the twinning project in the bilateral agenda. Furthermore, they ratified the willingness to support and work together on the design by the cities of Medellín and Fuzhou.
Afterward, both sides mentioned that this project would bring closer cities and regions between Colombia and China. They also agreed to sign a Letter of Intent by the Mayors of each region, accompanied by the Ambassadors.
In addition, Zhang Wei, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Fuzhou, represented the Chinese side. Laura Morales Higuita, Luis Jorge Roa Corredor and Robert Bula from the Colombian delegation participated.
China-Colombia relations
On 7 February 1980, the People’s Republic of China and Colombia established diplomatic relations. In July and September of the same year, China and Colombia opened embassies to each other. Colombia has consulates-general in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong.
The friendly and cooperative relations between the People’s Republic of China and Colombia grew steadily in 2013. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries developed steadily.
China is Colombia’s second-largest trading partner. As well as, Colombia is China’s sixth-largest trading partner in Latin America. Both countries’ economic cooperation mainly involves oil exploration and development, telecommunications, and other fields.
