Islamabad, 15 November 2021 (TDI): Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong attended a meeting with Pakistani officials over China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Islamabad.
CEOs of over 70 Chinese Companies participated
Pakistani minister for development Asad Umar and Chairman CPEC Authority Khalid Mansoor with Chinese Chinese investors attended the meeting. The CEOs of over 70 companies operating in Pakistan were also present in the meeting. Several other companies also attended the meeting virtually.
SAPM on CPEC briefed about recent developments in CPEC
The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Khalid Mansoor briefed the participants about the recent developments in CPEC. He emphasized phase 2 of the CPEC. He stressed that phase two of the CPEC is planned to strengthen the cooperation in the fields of industry, technology, and agriculture.
SAPM on CPEC also highlighted the importance of business-to-business collaboration in the 2nd phase of CPEC. He emphasized 4 out of 9 Special Economic Zones (SEZs) including Gwadar are at the advanced stage of development. He stated that Pakistan provides one of the best Special Economic Zones by exempting income tax and customs duty on capital goods imports for 10 years.
Pakistani Minister of Planning and Development encourages Chinese investors
Asad Umar assured Chinese investors and the Chinese Ambassador to provide better opportunities for development by setting a facilitation center for the CPEC investors. He encouraged them to find new channels for investment in the areas of Information Technology, Industry, and Agriculture.
Asad Umar stated that due to the iron-clad friendship, Pakistan looks forward to increasing Chinese investment in Pakistan. He also expressed gratitude to the Chinese companies who have helped to build a positive image of Pakistan for foreign direct investment.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan addressed the event
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong also addressed the event. He appreciated the event which made a way to bring together Chinese companies in the event. He stated that the Chinese companies will work together with CPEC to enhance investment opportunities in Pakistan. The ambassador also urged the Chinese companies to increase their business activities in Pakistan.
The CEOs of different Chinese companies also spoke at the event. They discussed the business opportunities in Pakistan. They also highlighted their planned ideas to work in Pakistan. The CEOs said that they are committed to enhancing their investment in Pakistan to strengthen the iron-clad friendship with Pakistan.
