Beijing: July 2, 2021- (TDI): In an exclusive interview with Global times, former Afghani president Hamid Karzai talked about the current situation in Afghanistan and the role China can play in Afghanistan, as USA forces are withdrawing from Afghanistan.
The former president of Afghanistan said that the USA came to Afghanistan to stabilize the nation, end terrorism and bring stability but it is now leaving without ensuring any of these. He further stated it is true that the Afghan people are responsible to bring peace by unifying but it is also the duty of the United States and NATO, who came into Afghanistan in the guise of bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan.
Karzai stressed the importance of the role China can play to bring peace and stability to Afghanistan as the USA and NATO are completely withdrawing, leaving Afghanistan in a state of chaos. He stated China can play an important role, especially to try to improve Afghanistan-Pakistan relations and work towards a partnership between the two countries, which is based on civil interactions.
Karzai mentioned China as a positive contributor to the current situation in Afghanistan.
He stated that Afghanistan and its people genuinely want China’s continued contribution to Afghanistan’s peace by establishing a forum for negotiations in Beijing on its own initiative, as well as for the Trio of China, Russia, and Pakistan’s joint exercise.
