Beijing (TDI): China’s artificial intelligence (AI) sector continues to expand rapidly, with nearly 1.9 million AI-related organizations registered as of October 31, according to the China Organization Data Service under the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Over 60,000 enterprises in manufacturing have integrated AI into their operations, accelerating the transformation of the industry, officials announced on Tuesday.
Experts attribute this growth to supportive government policies, which have fostered robust momentum in the sector and created favorable conditions for industrial advancement.
Southeastern China has emerged as a hub for AI, accounting for 57% of the national total.

Guangdong Province leads with approximately 280,000 AI organizations, representing 14.7% of the country’s total.
Meanwhile, Hainan Province has witnessed rapid growth, with its AI-related organizations increasing at an average annual rate of 55%, reaching over 90,000.
AI organizations in technology and information sectors comprise around 550,000, nearly 60% of the total.
In 2023, China’s core AI industry was valued at over 578 billion yuan ($80 billion), reflecting a 13.9% annual increase.

China ranks globally among top-tier AI developers, particularly in language model algorithms.
The country has also made strides in AI R&D, especially in areas like deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision, contributing to the global prominence of Chinese AI companies and research institutions, according to experts.
China’s AI development is highlighted in its Government Work Report, which introduced the “AI Plus” initiative to bolster the digital economy and drive manufacturing transformation.
The initiative aims to enhance resource efficiency and reduce consumption, creating a competitive environment for industrial innovation.
In the manufacturing sector alone, China has established over 2,500 digital workshops and smart factories, utilizing AI across research, production, and management processes.
