Tokyo: 27 July 2021 (TDI):  China maintains its remarkable medal-winning record at the Summer Olympics 2020 on Tuesday with three gold medals won in shooting and diving.

In Shooting, the first medal was won by Jiang Ranxin and Pang Wei in the Mixed 10m air pistol team final and the second by Yang Qian and Yang Haoran in the 10m air rifle mixed team event final. This is the second gold for Olympic debutant Yang Qian, who won the first gold in the Women’s 10m air rifle on Saturday. In Diving, the medal was won in the Women’s synchronized 10m platform by the 14-year-old Zhang Jiaqi and 15-year-old Chen Yuxi. It is the second gold medal in Diving won by China. The first was won by Shi Tingmao and Wang Han in the Women’s synchronized 3metre springboard on Sunday.

The shooting medalist Pang Wei said, “I’m so excited because after winning the gold in 2008, I really want to prove myself again. For me, the last two Olympic Games have been a bit regrettable. Although the results were okay, I failed to clinch gold. This gold medal not only shows that we beat the odds but also shows our resilience.” He also praised his teammate and called her “utterly amazing”
