China wins its first gold medal in rowing on Wednesday

Team China’s Chen Yunxia, Zhang Ling, Lyu Yang, and Cui Xiaotong won the gold medal in the rowing women’s quadruple sculls final on Wednesday, followed by team Poland securing the second position and Australia the third.

This is China’s first gold medal in rowing. Earlier, Chinese rowers Zhang Liang and Liu Zhiyu claimed the bronze medal in the men’s double sculls final.

On the same day, China clinched two other gold medals; one in Diving by Wang Zongyuan and Xie Siyi in the Men’s synchronized 3-m springboard and the other in Shooting by Sheng Lihao in the Men’s 10-m air rifle. China also claimed a silver medal in Gymnastics by Xiao Ruoteng in the Men’s artistic individual all-around and two bronze medals in Rowing and Basketball by Liu Zhiyu and Zhang Liang in the Men’s double sculls and China women’s national 3×3 team, Wan Jiyuan, Wang Lili, Yang Shuyu, and Zhang Zhiting in the Women’s 3×3 tournament.
