China, US Hold ‘Constructive’ Trade Talks in Stockholm

Stockholm (TDI): Trade officials from China and the United States have wrapped up a fresh round of discussions in Stockholm, describing the talks as in-depth, candid, and constructive, according to a senior Chinese trade official.

Li Chenggang, China’s international trade representative and vice minister of commerce, briefed reporters following the conclusion of the meetings, which spanned over a day and a half.

He said that both sides engaged openly on key economic and trade concerns, reflecting a shared interest in maintaining stable and productive ties between the world’s two largest economies.

“The discussions were direct and thorough, with both teams addressing sensitive topics in a constructive spirit,” Li said.

A key point on the table was the ongoing pause on 24 percent of reciprocal tariffs imposed by the United States, along with corresponding Chinese countermeasures.

According to Li, both sides agreed on the importance of continuing this suspension as broader negotiations move forward.
