Kunming (TDI): The China-Thailand “Commando 2024” joint army training exercise, currently underway in Kunming, Southwest China, has seen the integration of advanced simulation technologies and artificial intelligence innovations, notably featuring robotic dogs and bird-like ornithopters.
These cutting-edge developments aim to bolster counter-terrorism capabilities and further refine China’s military equipment in real-world scenarios.
Military analysts believe that such advancements not only enhance China’s domestic operations but also position the country to strengthen its military technology exports, according to Global Times.
This year’s exercise marks the seventh edition of the “Commando” series between the two nations’ militaries.
Focused on joint counter-terrorism operations, the exercise includes a wide range of training topics, from special demolition blasting to helicopter landings and joint search and suppression missions.
The goal is to boost operational coordination between Chinese and Thai forces while contributing to regional stability.
A standout moment of the exercise came when the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) showcased its robotic dog and bird-like ornithopters to the visiting Thai personnel.
According to Chinese media, these unmanned systems displayed notable mobility, flexibility, and intelligence.
