ISLAMABAD, September 10, 2024 (TDI): On Tuesday, China and Russia will hold a joint naval and air exercise later this month in the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk aiming to expand the strategic cooperation level between the militaries of both countries.
China’s Ministry of National Defense said that the Northern/Interaction-2024 exercise, organized by China, is set to enhance strategic coordination between the two nations’ armed forces and improve their capabilities to address security threats.
He said that both naval and air forces from Russia will take part in the exercise which is part of an annual plan agreed upon by both countries.

This upcoming exercise follows previous drills in the Interaction series, including the Western/Interaction-2021 in Northwest China and the Northern/Interaction-2023 in the Sea of Japan.

In addition, the two nations will conduct their fifth maritime joint patrol in the Pacific Ocean, and China will take part in Russia’s Ocean-2024 strategic exercise.
These activities are part of a broader effort to strengthen China-Russia military ties and reflect a strategic partnership that serves both regional and global stability.
According to a Beijing-based military expert, the joint exercises and patrols highlight the close military relationship between China and Russia and their shared commitment to maintaining peace and stability.
