Beijing (TDI): China’s diplomacy will continue to hold high the banner of peace, development, mutual benefit and cooperation and strive to promote world peace, tranquility and common progress of mankind in the coming year, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said while addressing a symposium on the global situation and China’s foreign relations in 2024 in Beijing on Tuesday.
Wang Yi said that China’s diplomacy in 2024 had fostered a sound external environment for China’s high-quality development and injected treasured stability into a volatile world.
He shared 5 highlights of China’s diplomacy over the past year. He said first, China’s head-of-state diplomacy had written a superb new chapter and led the trend of the times for peace, growth and win-win cooperation.
Second, new advances have been made in building a community with a shared future for humanity and promoting global solidarity, he said.
Third, Chinese modernization creates new opportunities for the international community and promotes the development trend of modernization in other nations, Wang added.

Fourth, China has set a new example in cooperation with other developing nations and built on the trend of unity in the Global South, the foreign minister said.
Fifth, new progress has been made in deepening the complete diplomatic agenda and consolidating the trend of building a new type of international relations, the top diplomat maintained.
In November, President Xi Jinping met with US President Joe Biden and extended congratulations to President-elect Trump, providing strategic guidance for the development of China-US ties at key junctures, said Wang Yi, while also pointed out that Beijing’s policy towards the US has remained stable and consistent, reflecting the strategic stability and broad vision of a major power.

We are willing to maintain dialogue with Washington, manage differences, dispel doubts, build trust, and expand cooperation, jointly exploring the right way for the two great powers to get along with each other on this planet, benefiting both countries and the world, said Wang Yi.
