Beijing, 23 October 2021 (TDI): Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, on Friday 22 expressed satisfaction at the progress of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He stated that after making significant achievements in a wide range of areas over the years CPEC achieved this level.
Wang Wenbin said that it delighted the Chinese to see CPEC achieve new results and enter a stage of high-quality development. This is a simple demonstration of the good relations between China and Pakistan. He also said that it is a great example of how to encourage prosperity and development in countries along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
He also mentioned National Development Reforms Commission briefings (NDRC), where a spokesperson of the Commission, Meng Wei, provided an update about progress in CPEC-development.
Earlier, a spokesperson for NDRC also highlighted during a press briefing that the CPEC was a major project in the BRI and would increase Pakistan’s socioeconomic development in multiple areas, including energy and transport.
Moreover, he mentioned China would partner with Pakistan to carry out major deals reached between their leaders. The CPEC project will show BRI’s high-quality development and encourage the creation of a China-Pakistan shared community.
Therefore, he said that Pakistan and China will continue cooperation at Gwadar port and on energy and infrastructure projects in order to support the high-quality development of the CPEC.
The Joint Council for Cooperation of the CPEC was hosted on September 23rd. The parties signed five documents of cooperation, along with three agreements of inter-enterprise cooperation.
