Jinan (TDI): A major milestone in China-Europe trade logistics was reached Tuesday morning as the 110,000th freight train on this route set off from Qingdao, located in eastern China’s Shandong Province.
Carrying 55 containers filled with home appliances such as LCD screens and refrigerators, the train’s cargo is valued at nearly 20 million yuan (approximately $2.78 million).
Its route will take it out of China through Erenhot Port in Inner Mongolia, the largest land gateway on the China-Mongolia border. From there, it is expected to reach Europe in 17 days.
Gao Yitian, an official at the Jinan Railway Logistics Center’s Jiaozhou branch, emphasized how the freight service has evolved over the last ten years.

He said, “The growth isn’t just in the number of trains. We’ve seen a significant improvement in cargo variety, network coverage, and overall service efficiency,” according to Xinhua.
The logistics network in Shandong has also become an important hub for re-exporting goods from neighboring countries such as Japan, South Korea, and others across Southeast Asia.

“I’m confident this service will continue playing a vital role in global trade, not only by moving more Chinese goods but also by offering streamlined transportation solutions for Belt and Road partner nations,” Gao added.
To date, freight trains have been launched from 128 cities across China, reaching 229 destinations in 26 European nations, as well as more than 100 cities across 11 Asian countries.
