Beijing, 1 April 2023 (TDI): On Thursday, State Councillor and Foreign Minister of China, Qin Gang met with Dominican counterpart, Vince Henderson to strengthen cooperation in various fields.

During the meeting held in Hainan Province of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), Qin said that Dominica is a very good partner in the Caribbean region.

Moreover, he appreciated Dominica for its support for the Global Development Initiative and said, “China welcomes its active participation in the Global Civilization Initiative.”

He further added that next year the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries will provide both countries with an opportunity to strengthen their bilateral ties, enhance cooperation and promote cultural exchanges between both sides.

On the other hand, Henderson, on his part, reiterated that Dominica is willing to work with China in all relevant fields such as agriculture, education, climate change, etc.

Also, he added that Dominica adheres firmly to the One-China principle and supports Global Civilization Initiative, therefore, promoting exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations.

A few years ago, both countries also formed an association together namely the Dominica-China Friendship Association which aims to contribute to the advancement of several developmental sectors of both sides.

Both countries also signed agreements on mutual visa exemption so that the citizens could visit each other’s countries without any hassle.

Certainly, the relationship between the two countries has changed drastically over the years and reached a new level based on mutual respect and mutually beneficial cooperation between countries of different sizes.
