Gyeongju (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping has reaffirmed China’s readiness to align development strategies with Thailand and share its governance and development experience in the new era.
During a meeting with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on the sidelines of the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, Xi extended condolences over the passing of Thailand’s Queen Mother Sirikit and expressed sympathy to King Maha Vajiralongkorn.
Xi described China and Thailand as “good neighbors, good friends, good relatives, and good partners,” noting that the relationship had entered “a new stage of building a community with a shared future” following his 2022 visit to Thailand.
Marking 50 years of diplomatic relations, Xi called on both sides to build upon past achievements by accelerating cooperation in key areas including infrastructure, agriculture, green economy, and digital innovation. He specifically urged faster progress on the China–Thailand railway project to bring tangible benefits to both nations.

Xi also stressed the importance of people-to-people exchanges in tourism and youth programs, and urged joint efforts to combat cross-border crimes such as online gambling and telecom fraud.
He emphasized that China and Thailand should work together under initiatives like the Global Governance Initiative to uphold international fairness and protect the interests of the Global South.

Prime Minister Anutin expressed appreciation for Xi’s condolences and praised China’s development achievements under the CPC’s 20th Central Committee. He said Thailand is eager to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and connectivity, while also stepping up enforcement against online fraud.
Anutin added that Thailand values China’s leadership through its four global initiatives and looks forward to closer collaboration for regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
