Beijing, 18 July 2022 (TDI): China’s State Councilor and Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, sent a letter of sympathy and condolences to the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in the wake of the ongoing floods in Pakistan.

Intense floods caused by torrential monsoon rains have killed dozens of people in Pakistan and made hundreds homeless. 57 people, including women and children, were killed in the southern province of Balochistan when they were swept away by swollen floodwaters.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, the flood has taken two lives. In addition, Four were hurt after their house fell due to the heavy rain.
Moreover, recent days of heavy downpours in Pakistan have submerged vast portions of the country’s largest city, Karachi.
According to China Radio International (CRI), Wang Yi expressed profound sadness and aguish in his statement over the loss of life and property caused by floods in numerous areas of Pakistan.
He conveyed his deep condolences to the victims’ families and the injured and afflicted residents in the disaster zone.
Wang Yi further added that the Chinese government and people will always stand by the Pakistani government and fraternal Pakistani people.
Moreover, he said Pakistani people can always count on the support of the Chinese government.
He concluded by saying, “We are confident that the Pakistani people will quickly overcome the disasters and return back to regular life under the leadership of the Pakistani government.”
Bilateral Relations between Pakistan and China
Pakistan shares a strong and brotherly relationship with its neighboring country, China. The two countries have benefitted from their long-standing relationship.
The bilateral relationship between the two neighboring countries is due to mutual trust, respect, and goodwill.
There is a regular exchange of high-level visits between the two countries. Pakistan-China strategic cooperation has grown over the last several decades.
China has always backed and supported Pakistan in difficult times and financially aided during any crisis and economic fallouts.
