Beijing (TDI): China has condemned an explosion targeting its Consulate-General in Mandalay, Myanmar, expressing deep concern over the incident.
The attack occurred around 5 pm on Friday when an explosive device was hurled at an office building of the Chinese Consulate-General, which is located near a busy street.
While no casualties were reported, the blast caused damage to the premises, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at a press briefing.
Following the incident, the Chinese Foreign Ministry, along with its Embassy and Consulate-General in Myanmar, immediately activated an emergency response mechanism to address the situation.
China has lodged a formal protest with Myanmar, demanding a thorough investigation and urging Myanmar authorities to apprehend the perpetrators.

Lin emphasized the need for strengthened security measures for Chinese diplomatic missions, institutions, and personnel in the country to prevent such incidents from recurring.
Myanmar’s government expressed shock and regret over the attack, assuring China that it would take all necessary steps in line with international law to safeguard Chinese personnel and institutions in the country.

In the wake of the attack, the Chinese Consulate-General in Mandalay has issued a security alert, advising all Chinese nationals, businesses, and institutions in Myanmar to remain vigilant and adopt heightened security measures to ensure their safety.
