Brussels, (TDI): Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao has vowed that China will remain committed to electric vehicle (EV) negotiations with the European Union “until the final moment” in response to the EU’s anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese EVs.
Speaking at the “China-Europe EV Industrial Chain Enterprises Roundtable” in Brussels, Wang emphasized the need for dialogue and cooperation to resolve trade disputes.
Wang expressed concerns over the investigation’s fairness, stating that it could harm China-EU cooperation in the automobile industry and weaken global efforts to address climate change.

Several EU member states, including Germany, Italy, and Spain, have also voiced concerns about imposing duties on Chinese EVs, calling for a solution through dialogue.
During the roundtable, representatives from both Chinese and European EV companies, including major industry players such as SAIC, BYD, Volkswagen, and Mercedes-Benz, highlighted the need to prevent trade protectionism and support free trade.
Cooperation Emphasized
Participants stressed the importance of continued cooperation in the EV sector and resolving the anti-subsidy case through dialogue to avoid escalating tensions.
EU diplomats have reportedly postponed a decision on imposing duties on Chinese EVs, signaling potential room for negotiation.
