Kazan (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed China’s dedication to developing friendly cooperation with Iran, regardless of changes in the international and regional landscape.
He made these remarks during a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit.
Xi emphasized Iran’s significant regional and international influence, describing it as a vital friend and partner of China.
He noted that the strategic importance of China-Iran relations has grown amid unprecedented global transformations.
“We support Iran in safeguarding its national sovereignty, security, and dignity,” Xi said, adding that China aims to strengthen mutual support, uphold international norms such as non-interference in internal affairs, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of both nations.
He expressed China’s willingness to enhance exchanges and cooperation across various sectors to foster a comprehensive strategic partnership that benefits both peoples.
Welcoming Iran’s first participation in the BRICS Summit as a full member, Xi expressed China’s readiness to collaborate with Iran within BRICS and other multilateral frameworks.

He highlighted the importance of amplifying the voice of the Global South and advancing a fairer international order.
In response, Pezeshkian acknowledged China as Iran’s most significant partner, noting the positive momentum in their comprehensive strategic partnership.
Iran’s Eagerness to Collaborate with China
He expressed Iran’s eagerness to collaborate with China on a comprehensive cooperation plan, focusing on connectivity, infrastructure, and clean energy, which would bolster Iran’s national development and promote regional peace and stability.
Pezeshkian thanked China for its support in Iran’s accession to the BRICS cooperation mechanism and looked forward to deepening collaboration within BRICS and other multilateral platforms.

The two leaders also discussed the current situation in the Middle East, with Xi expressing concern over the ongoing turmoil.
He emphasized that achieving an early ceasefire in Gaza is essential for easing regional tensions and called on the international community to encourage all parties to adhere to UN Security Council resolutions to prevent further instability.
