Beijing, 1 July 2024 (TDI): July 1, 2024, marks the 103rd anniversary of the foundation of the Communist Party of China (CPC). On this day, various activities took place to celebrate this important milestone.
A symphony concert was held at the Museum of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing.
However, the traditional way of celebrating this big day is by visiting CPC museums dedicated to the Party’s history. In cities like Beijing and Shanghai, visitors are eager to learn more about the Party’s founding and its subsequent development.
Moreover, approximately 800 people attended the concert from all walks of life. The audience includes laureates of major national honorary medals and titles. Representatives of outstanding CPC members working at the primary level, and experts from various fields also attended the concert.
Additionally, it featured more than 20 musical works reflecting the CPC’s endeavours in various stages over the past century and more. Multiple orchestras and institutions participated in the performance.
The Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the China Media Group (CMG) co-hosted the concert. It will also be broadcast in prime time on CMG channels on Monday.
Exhibits showcase the Party’s early struggles, its role in China’s development and achievements in modernizing the country, attracting people from all walks of life. For many visitors, these museums offer them a chance to understand the CPC’s history and its impact on China.
Role of CPC in Chinese Modernization
Founded in 1921, the CPC emerged in a China fractured and oppressed by foreign powers. Previously, the traditional political structure and overall socioeconomic and political order were broken by the two Opium Wars (1840-42 and 1856-60).
After the founding of New China in 1949, the Party led the Chinese people to make great achievements in the socialist construction of the country. CPS laid the institutional foundation for treading a new path to Chinese modernization.
In 1978, China launched a historic decision to shift the priority of the Party and the country’s work agenda to economic development.

Furthermore, based on an assessment of the conditions in China, Deng Xiaoping creatively set the goal of achieving “Chinese-style modernization” in 1979 and defined parameters for the level of modernization China would achieve by the end of the 20th century.
To advance China’s modernization, Chinese communists integrated the socialist system with the market economy. They built a socialist market economy with a goal of reform to attain modernization.
So far, China has maintained rapid development. China is the 2nd largest economy in the world. China is the pioneer of creating an economic miracle in the history of world development.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics China contributed more than 30 percent to world economic growth in 2023, making it the largest engine of global economic expansion.
