Beijing, 16 August 2022 (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister General of Cambodia, Tea Banh met with Xu Qiliang, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China on Monday.
They discussed the US provocative actions that threaten the peace and security of the region. It was surmised that there is an urgent need to improve communication and coordination between China and the nearby countries.
There is also a need to enhance collaboration between the Chinese military and the militaries of ASEAN members.

China and Cambodia to strengthen Military Cooperation
According to Xu, China strongly supports Cambodia in preserving its national sovereignty, independence, stability, and development. China also firmly supports Cambodia in freely deciding on a development path and in building its military and national defense.
Moreover, Xu said that the Chinese military will firmly implement the Global Security Initiative and Global Development Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
China will enhance collaboration with Cambodia for their common interests and regional peace and stability. According to Banh, Cambodia consistently and unwaveringly defends the one-China principle.

Cambodia strongly backs China in preserving its territorial integrity, security, and national sovereignty. Banh said Cambodia views China as a brother-like loyal friend.
Cambodia is grateful for its significant contribution to modernizing Cambodia’s government and military as well as its fight against the COVID-19 epidemic.
Moreover, the Cambodian Defense Minister stated that Cambodia is willing to cooperate with China to deepen cooperation to address shared risks and challenges.
Both states will continuously raise the bar of ties between the two nations and their militaries. In 2023, China and Cambodia will commemorate the foundation of their diplomatic ties for the 65th time.
