Beijing, 8 September 2021 (TDI): During the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan’s neighbors, China announced humanitarian aid for Afghanistan. China’s aid to Kabul is $31 million which is equal to 200 million yuan. The purpose of financial aid is the restoration of the war-torn country’s economy. The Foreign Minister of China also encouraged the forum in a joint effort to curb terrorism and drug trafficking.
Furthermore, for enhancing regional cooperation China expressed willingness to collaborate with Kabul in anti-pandemic efforts. In this vein, Beijing has also announced the provision of 3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Afghanistan.
The meeting was organized by Islamabad and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi of China, Foreign Minister Amir Abdolahian of Iran, Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin of Tajikistan, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov of Turkmenistan, and Foreign Minister Abdul Aziz Kamilov of Uzbekistan participated in the meeting.
