China and Africa continues strengthening friendship

Coordinators’ Meeting on the implementation of the Follow-up Actions of The Eighth Ministerial Conference of The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Beijing, 20 August 2022 (TDI): Representatives of China and Africa took part in the Coordinators’ Meeting on the implementation of the Follow-up Actions of The Eighth Ministerial Conference of The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

African Diplomatic Envoys in China, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Senegal, Aissata Tall Sall, and representatives of the African Co-Chairs of FOCAC joined the meeting.

Moreover, representatives of the sub-regional members of the Bureau of the Assembly of the African Union were also present at the meeting.

 Remarks by the Chinese State Councilor

Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councilor Wang Yi shared his remarks on China-Africa’s growing cooperation. He also mentioned that despite the evolving international situation, China and Africa have focused on cooperation and enhancing solidarity.

He further reiterated that FOCAC has been of great significance for building a China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.

China appreciates the firm commitment of African countries to the one-China principle and support for China’s efforts to safeguard sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

He also stated that China will continue to actively support and participate in the construction of major infrastructure in Africa through financing, investment, and assistance.

He further mentioned that China will upgrade the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund to a Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund. Moreover, China has started developing a pool of global development projects. China welcomes applications from African countries with prospective projects.

In addition to that China is actively preparing for the China-Africa Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.

Chinese Foreign Minister mentioned that China will work with Africa to carry forward the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence, practice true multilateralism and jointly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries.
