Beijing, 23 March 2023 (TDI): According to officials, China will forge green cooperation with Africa to speed up high-quality development and industrialization.

Also, China plans to double its investment in the country, especially in the Belt and Road initiative (BRI) projects, and implement more projects.

Specifically, the green cooperation of China aims to promote green and low-carbon ties with Africa, an official at the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) noted.

At another place, Zhang Jianhua, Deputy Director of the Foreign Investment Department at the NDRC, said, “Green cooperation has become a new highlight of the collaboration between China and Africa.

China will support domestic enterprises to invest in projects related to wind power, photovoltaic, and biomass energy in Africa and strengthen the training of local talent.”

As agricultural transformation is crucial to sustained growth, China highly encourages investment in the agricultural sector of Africa. In fact, China has become the second-largest importer of agricultural products from Africa.

Moreover, it has also remained its trading partner for 14 consecutive years, according to the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Besides, Wu Peng, Head of African affairs at the Foreign Ministry, stated, “with an unstable global economy and supply chain, Sino-African cooperation faces a critical period as it tries to reach a higher level.

Promoting the transformation and upgrade of cooperation and high-quality development has become the tasks of the new era for the two sides.”
