Rawalpindi, 14 October 2021 (TDI): Chief of General Staff (CGS) of Armed Forces of Iran, Major General Mohammed Bagheri, met Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee (JCSC), General Nadeem Raza.

The meeting took place on 13 October at Joint Staff Headquarters, Rawalpindi. The Chief of General Staff was accompanied by a high-level military delegation. A tri-service contingent presented ‘Guard of Honor’ to the visiting dignitary upon his arrival at Joint Staff Headquarters.

During the meeting, the military officials discussed matters of mutual interest in the domain of defense and security. They also exchanged views on the regional security situation, especially the emerging developments in Afghanistan. Bilateral cooperation in countering terrorism also came under discussion.

According to a statement issued by ISPR, the military’s media wing, Chairman JCSC General Nadeem stated Pakistan and Iran share the same stance on national and international issues. He said this will facilitate strategic collaboration between the two countries. He further added the visit of Iranian military leadership will mark a new era of defense collaboration between the two countries.

Likewise, the visiting dignitary lauded the professionalism of Pakistan armed forces. He also acclaimed Pakistan’s effort for maintaining regional peace and stability as well as the country’s sacrifices for combating terrorism.

Both sides agreed to further augment defense ties and elevate bilateral military engagements between the two countries.

Major General Mohammed Bagheri also held a meeting with Chief of Army Staff Pakistan, General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
