Islamabad (TDI): On the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a chartered plane carrying 318 Pakistani citizens who were repatriated from Syria to Beirut, a day earlier, landed in Islamabad early Friday.
Federal Minister for Planning and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal and Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lt. Gen. Inam Haider Malik received the repatriated citizens at the Islamabad International Airport.
Under the personal supervision of PM, the plan for the safe evacuation of Pakistani nationals was carried out by NDMA in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in a statement that the safe return of Pakistani citizens from Syria was a top priority of the government.

He commended the prompt action taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Pakistani embassies in Syria and Lebanon, and the NDMA officials in ensuring the safe return of Pakistani nationals.
He also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Lebanon, Najib Mikati, whose government extended all possible cooperation and help for the return of Pakistanis via Beirut.

The Lebanese government also provided buses for the transfer of passengers.
PM Shehbaz also directed the authorities concerned to continue taking immediate measures to evacuate more Pakistani nationals from Syria.
