Chairman Senate Pakistan promote bilateral cooperation in Iraq

Baghdad, 7 December 2023 (TDI): Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, on Wednesday met with the acting speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi during his visit to Iraq. 

The acting speaker extended a warm welcome to the Chairman Senate and his delegation while expressing his appreciation for the strengthening of bilateral relations between both countries of Iraq and Pakistan. 

Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, arrived in Iraq on Wednesday. He is leading a high-level delegation of senators. The visit aims to further enhance the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iraq. 

Both leaders interacted in engaging and meaningful discussions on enhancing parliamentary exchanges. They also talked about fostering closer ties and addressing mutual challenges of both countries. 

Sadiq Sanjrani acknowledged the efforts of the leadership of Iraq in fortifying democracy and combating terrorism. He also urged for an increased collaboration between the two nations across the sectors of economy and trade. 

Furthermore, he also emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation and underscored the potential for growth and development through the joint ventures and initiatives of both states. 

During the meeting regional and global developments were also discussed, especially the current catastrophic situation in Gaza, which was a key area of their talks. 

The two leaders condemned the atrocities committed by the Zionist Israeli regime, while referring to them as barbaric acts of genocide. 

Chairman Senate of Pakistan and the Acting Speaker Al-Mandalawi called on for an immediate ceasefire of the region and the lifting of the illegal blockade on Gaza.

Moreover, the two leaders highlighted the significance of united action from the Muslim Countries, especially the OIC, to deter the hostile actions of the Zionist Israeli regime. 

Both stressed that there is an immediate need for a collective effort to address pressing issues in the region and to advertise peace and stability. 

The visit of Chairman Senate includes meeting with the senior Iraqi leadership and Parliamentary members, he is also scheduled to pay visits to holy sites in Iraq.
