Qingdao (TDI): The CEO of Diplomatic Insight Group (DIG), Muhammad Asif Noor, delivered a compelling talk at Qingdao Agriculture University (QAU), emphasizing the growing potential for agricultural cooperation between China and Pakistan under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a cornerstone initiative of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

In his talk, the CEO underscored the importance of strengthening ties in the agricultural sector, highlighting opportunities for collaborative research, technological innovation, and knowledge sharing between the two nations.

He noted that agricultural collaboration could serve as a catalyst for sustainable development and economic progress in both countries, while commending China’s success in transforming its agricultural systems, not just through cutting-edge machinery but also through a well-supported ecosystem of policy, research, and infrastructure.

CPEC, often hailed as a flagship project of BRI, has traditionally focused on infrastructure, energy, and industrial development. However, CEO Noor pointed out that agriculture represents a vital and underexplored area within the corridor’s broader framework.

With climate change and food security becoming pressing global concerns, he stressed the need for innovative farming techniques and bilateral cooperation to address these shared challenges.

He also proposed the creation of a China-Pakistan Agricultural Research Network to institutionalize joint research, exchange doctoral students, and develop context-specific technologies such as low-cost, solar-powered smart tractors and AI-based pest management systems.

In opening remarks, head of Qingdao Agricultural University’s mechanized crop production team, Prof. Wang Fangyan, emphasized that Asif Noor’s visit will strengthen bilateral ties in research, technology transfer, and capacity building between China and Pakistan in the agriculture sector.
